Preserve those memories and moments. We can transfer just about every video format out there. If you have a video, we have a way to convert it. Send us your video tapes, your film, your files, and hard drives. Let us know if you’d like a standard DVD, a BluRay or a digital video file, and we’ll take care of the rest.
All formats are welcome. Let us convert and digitize those old boxes of camcorder, VCR, and videotapes. These older tapes have a history of deteriorating over time. Here’s some of the most common type of consumer videotapes that we can transfer.

- DIGITAL 8

Professional Video Tapes
SDAV started in the Broadcast and Professional duplication/transfer industry, believe it or not…many, many years ago. So we handle many pro video tapes as well. Here’s some of the professional models and tape formats that we still work with regularly.
- BETA SP
- MINI DV
VHS to DVD
VHS tapes are still one of the most common tape formats that we see coming through our door. If recorded in standard play, you most likely filled up 120 min of holiday parties, birthdays, and kid performances on your tape. Some of you could have changed the record settings on your old camera or VCR and squeezed even more time in Extended or Long Play and got up to 6 hours on your tape. 6 hrs! With our VHS to DVD service, we’ll time out your tape, double check the content and quality, and transfer your footage with the highest quality process available. We have very affordable prices and offer quick turn around times as well. 120 min will fit just fine on a standard formatted DVD that is playable in DVD players and computer drives.
VHS-C to DVD
VHS-C tapes are the compact VHS tapes that are smaller and require an adapter to play in your VCR. Remember those adapters? Don’t have one anymore? Don’t worry. We have you covered. On average, these could record 30 min of video in the standard recording settings. If you’d like, we can combine multiple of these VHS-C tapes to one DVD, to maximize the amount of footage on your DVD and to save more space. We’ll print a title on the new DVD and include a case as well.
Hi8/8MM to DVD
Hi8 and 8mm tapes progressed in the 80s and 90s as the camcorders improved and the technology continued to change. These are the smaller tapes, they can hold 120 min in the standard play. Our state of the art Hi8 transfer service is very reliable and produces high quality DVDs as quickly as you can bring them by.
Mini DV to DVD
Mini DV tapes are probably the second most common tape format that we transfer here daily. Gone with the analog cameras and recorders. These digital tapes quickly became the standard for our recording platform for personal, family videos, and also professional projects. The Mini DV tapes most often have up to 60 minutes of footage wrapped and packaged in that “mini” tape. We have the highest quality tape decks and players and are equipped to transfer loads and loads of tapes. Call or email us for a quote anytime.
Beta SP to DVD
If you had a professional video, a commercial, a film, or project that was going on air perhaps, chances are you mastered it on a Beta SP tape. We maintain our pro decks regularly and can handle both the short and large format Beta SP tapes. Most commonly, we transfer them to high quality DVD masters. We also archive and convert those to digital files for our customers so that you can file away or edit and re-use the footage.
HDV to DVD
HDV tapes came along as HD camcorders were introduced into our industry and lives. Most often, they were 63 min tapes, if you had the true HD tapes. You could also shoot 1080 HD on your standard Mini DV tapes, but not get the full 60 minutes out of the tape. We have multiple HDV decks and can take most Sony, Canon, JVC, and Panasonic HD footage. We can down convert it to a standard high quality DVD, or we can also transfer your tapes to a BluRay disc so you can maintain the nice, high resolution HD quality that you shot in. Or perhaps you’d just like data files so you can import into your next editing project. Call or email for an estimate anytime.
Video Transfers to Data Files
Would you like data files instead of a standard DVD? Something nice and easy to use for your laptop or desktop computer? Or something that you can load and import into your editing software? No Problem. We can load your video tapes into our system and encode the highest quality file format available. We can make new files that meet your needs and requirements. PC? MAC? No problem. Are you planning on editing? What platform do you edit in? Final Cut Pro? Adobe Premiere Pro? AVID? We can make just about any file format that you’d like. We offer professional editing services as well, so we are very handy when it comes to file formats and encoding details. You need a file? We got you covered. Just bring in your hard drive and we’ll load it on and organize them for you.
Our Quality Control
At SDAV, we assure you that we handle your tapes, your film, your projects, with the utmost care and TLC. All video transfer projects are handled in-house, and never leave our sight. Each of your tapes and film reels are going to be assigned their very own bin, their new cozy home, and individually labeled with your name/ID to assure that your precious tapes can’t jump ship and land in another trusted customer’s bin. We time out the length of each tape, double check that there is footage, it’s playing, functioning correctly, and we’ll even call you if there’s any concern that we notice before we complete your order. We can even repair your tape if necessary. We use only the highest quality of DVD-R media to master and finalize your footage onto. Rest assured, we will take care of your videos.
